Google agrees to pay 326 mn in Italian tax settlement

(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 19 - Google has agreed to pay 326 million euros to settle a tax dispute with Italian authorities and Milan's State Attorney's Office, which was probing Google Ireland Limited on tax evasion charges, has asked to shelve the case, Milan Chief Prosecutor Marcello Viola said in a note on Wednesday.
    Viola wrote that prosecutors asked a preliminary investigations judge (GIP) to shelve the case against Google Ireland Limited after the settlement to pay Italy's Revenue Agency claims over sanctions, penalties and interests covering the "years from 2015 to 2019".
    After an investigation carried out by Milan's tax police and finance guards, the probe led by Milan prosecutors had found that the company did not file and pay taxes on revenues generated in Italy, said the statement.
    In 2017, Google agreed to pay the internal revenue agency 306 million euros in taxes after finance police acting under the instructions of Milan prosecutors conducted probes relating to the 2009-2013 period. (ANSA).
