(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 22 - The centre-left opposition Democratic Party (PD), the Green-Left Alliance (AVS) and the leftist populist 5-Star Movement (M5S) on Saturday asked the chair of the House labour committee to urgently summon Labour Minister Marina Calderone to answer questions raised by a leftwing newspaper about how she obtained her degree from the Link University.
The three opposition parties said the report by the Il Fatto Quotidiano daily "flag up inconsistencies and conflicts of interest in the minister's university career".
They added: "we expect transparency and truth, above all in parliament".
Calderone on Saturday denied Il Fatto's contention that her degree was obtained "in a hurry", allegedly without doing al the exams that might have been expected of her.
As for a number of exams taken at the weeknd, she said this was "normal" for students who were also holding down a job at the same time, as she was. (ANSA).
