ANM 'stunned' by new disciplinary offence

(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 23 - Magistrates union ANM on Sunday said it was "stunned" by a new proposed offece of bringing the category into disrepute announced by Justice Minister Carlo Nordio and aimed at officials who appear in the media.
    The ANM expressed "astonishment and disppointment" over the hypothesis of disciplinary sanctions for magistrates who have "behaviors that compromise the personal credibility, prestige and decorum of the judicial institution" contained in the response of the Minister of Justice Nordio to a parliamentary question by Senator Maurizio Gasparri.
    Nordio and the ANM are at loggerheads over a proposed Constitutional reform to stop judges and prosecutors switching roles.
