(ANSA) - Milan, January 29 - The Milan stock exchange
bounced back in early trading on Friday, regaining some of
Thursday's big losses.
The benchmark FTSE Mib index, which shed 3. 49% on
Thursday, climbed 1.8%.
The gains were spearheaded by bank stocks, which took much
of the pounding earlier in the week.
Troubled lender Monte dei Paschi di Siena was up over 8%
after it presented financial results showing a return to profit
after five years on Thursday.
Banco Popolare and BPM, which are poised for a merger,
were up 8.59% and 4.4% respectively.
