NRRP 'great wager on future generations' says Draghi

(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 9 - Italy's massive EU funded post COVID National recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) amounts to a major wager on the country's future generations, as the programme does for the whole continent, Premier Mario Draghi said at the US-sponsored Summit for Democracy on Thursday.
    "Our economies are recovering quickly thanks to unprecedented support by governments and central banks," he said.
    "The experience of the EU offers an example of resilience and democracy and in the darkest days of the pandemic we launched the Next Generation EU (recovery plan).
    "We chose to act together and to divide the cost of the recovery collectively.
    "We transformed the pandemic into an opportunity to overcome longstanding inequities, to promote sustainability and innovation.
    "We made a major wager on future generations." (ANSA).
