(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 5 - Italy's candidacy of former economy
minister Daniele Franco to head the European Investment Bank
(EIB) is "solid and of high standing," his successor and current
holder of the ministerial position Giancarlo Giorgetti told a
Bloomberg event Monday.
"Italy will present itself in this race with a candidate of
value," as indeed is the former minister, said Giorgetti.
As for Ignazio Visco's successor as Bank of Italy governor,
Giorgetti said "we have the name in mind but I prefer to leave
(speculation) to the newspapers". (ANSA).
