(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 8 - Some 25% of Romagna's GDP was hit by
last month's floods that killed 15 people and caused billions of
euros in damage to crops, property and infrastructure in the
Emilia-Romagna region, the E-R chapter of the industrial
employers' group Confindustria said Thursday.
"The flood is a tragedy that has hit our territory and we
estimate about a quarter of the GDP produced in the areas
affected (was lost)", said Annalisa Sassi, president of
Confindustria Emilia-Romagna.
"The reactivity of our people and our territories," she observed
- will be strong. Reconstruction will provide further stimulus.
We, despite the tragedy, are confident that businesses will
recover stronger than before. The resilience is strong and,' he
concluded - we can look ahead with great confidence'. (ANSA).
