Foodinho's point system for riders ruled discriminatory

Works 'against people with disabilities, special circumstances'

(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 20 - A Palermo court on Monday ruled that the points system the Foodinho food-delivery app uses to reward high-performing riders is discriminatory against many workers, such as the disabled, older riders and people with special family or personal circumstances.
The system run by Foodinho, which is part of the Glovo group, gives a higher score to riders who do more deliveries and are available at peak times, such as evenings, weekends and national holidays.
Having more points gives those riders an advantage as they have more choice over their subsequent slots after completing a job.
The court said this gave them more and better work opportunities.
The petition against the system was presented by the Nidil Cgil, Filcams Cgil and Filt Cgil trade unions. (ANSA).
