Spumante to beat champagne 3 to 1 worldwide say farmers

(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 31 - With the help of the coming New Year bubbly toasts Italian spumante will beat French champagne by three to one in global bottle sales this year, farm group Coldiretti said Sunday.
    The Italian sparkling wine will have sold 936 million bottles to champagne's 300 million, it said.
    Spumante exports abroad will have risen 2% to over 2.2 billion, said Coldiretti.
    Foreign uncorkings account for tow thirds of total consumption, or 650 million bottles, said the association. (ANSA).
