Italy's workforce to drop by 10% by 2040 - INPS

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 22 - Italy's workforce is set to decrease by 10% by 2040 due to the nation's ageing population, Micaela Gelera, the extraordinary commissioner of pensions-and-social-security agency INPS, said on Monday. "With the current demographic trend, we will have fewer workers," Gelera said.
    "That's why it is important to innovate in particularly productive sectors because, if demographics are working against us, we will have to ensure that the fewer active people are big contributors". (ANSA).
