(ANSA) - ROME, APR 10 - Stellantis may have to close some of
its Italy plants if Chinese competitors are allowed to make cars
in Italy, CEO Carlos Tavares said Wednesday.
"The arrival of a competitor leads to reducing the market share
of those who are leaders like us in Italy," he said after talks
with unions in Turin.
"If we are under pressure we can accelerate productivity to
reduce costs.
"Also, if we lose market share we need fewer factories.
'Introducing Chinese competition is a big threat to Stellantis.
"We will fight, but when you fight there can be casualties.
"Do not expect us to come out victorious without scars". (ANSA).
