(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 11 - Stellantis said Tuesday it would
raise engine production at its Termoli plant after talks on
setting up a gigafactory in the Molise town with Mercedes and
Total fell through.
Stellantis has decided - following joint venture ACC's
announcement of the rescheduling of the Gigafactory project's
timeline - to boost production of ICS components at the Termoli
plant with the decision to develop a new Fiat 500 hybrid for
commercial launch in late 2025, early 2026 and to extend the
commercial life of the Fiat Panda hybrid until 2029, a company
spokesperson said.
He said Stellantis reiterates "the importance of the Termoli
plant for the production of endothermic engines for the group's
vehicles, carrying out the CO2 reduction strategy and ensuring
the transition". (ANSA).
