(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 4 - Labour Minister Marina Calderone said
amid an alarm over workplace deaths in Italy that on Wednesday
alone ministerial inspectors had inspected some 310 agricultural
companies across Italy and found irregularities regarding safety
standards and practices in fully 66% of them.
"Yesterday there was the biggest operation of surveillance ever
carried out in a single day," she told a ceremony for the
victims of workplace accidents in the Lower House.
"Some 310 farming companies were inspected and irregularities
were found in 66% of them, not only regarding workplace safety
but also as regards the management of relations with those
employed at them," she said.
She went on to say that "a lot can be done to stem the tide of
fatal workplace accidents by acting in silence to change the
culture." (ANSA).
