(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 12 - Italy ranks third in the EU and fifth
in the world for the proportion of female directors in company
boards, MP Lella Golfo said Monday, the 13th anniversary of a
law she co-authored in 2011 mandating a third of board seats at
listed and public sector firms to be allotted to women.
"The female presence on boards of listed and
government-controlled companies has surpassed the law's
expectations and is now over 43%, she said.
The Golfo-Mosca law's one-third quota was subsequently raised to
40% by the 2020 budget law.
