(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 13 - Some 90% of Italian trains are on
time despite works going on at 1,400 sites across the country's
rail network, Transport Minister Matteo Salvini said Tuesday.
He thanked rail staff for getting people to their destinations
on time despite all the maintenance, safety and other worksites.
The Italian rail network transported over 700,000 passengers
just on Monday, added Salvini, who is also deputy premier.
"The hard work of these female and male workers is the best
response to the criticism from leftwing sectors," he said
referring to a reaction to lengthy recent delays registered by
high-speed trains. (ANSA).
