(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 26 - Star Princess, the second LNG (liquefied natural gas) cruise ship that Fincantieri is building for Princess Cruises, was launched today at the Monfalcone shipyard in northeastern Italy.
At approximately 178,000 gross tons - Fincantieri recalls - Star Princess, sister ship of Sun Princess, also built in Monfalcone and delivered this year, is the second largest ship built so far in Italy and the second LNG cruise ship that the Group is building for this shipowner.
It is also the second dual-fuel ship powered mainly by LNG that will enter the Princess fleet.
Star Princess, said Fincantieri, is the second in Princess Cruises' Sphere class, with delivery scheduled for autumn 2025.
The new unit will accommodate approximately 4,300 people and is based on a new-generation platform design.
