(ANSA) - ROME, APR 14 - League leader Matteo Salvini told
Thursday's Corriere della Sera that he does not want to bring
down Premier Mario Draghi's government, while stressing that is
unhappy about how it has handled some issues, following tension
over a tax enabling bill tabled by the executive.
"I don't want to cause the government to collapse, although it
is disappointing on some issues," Salvini said.
"I'm referring, for example, to the landings (of migrant
boats)".
Draghi on Wednesday met representatives of the centre-right
parties supporting his government in a bid to ease tension over
the taxation reform enabling bill, which reforms and updates the
values assigned to properties in the land registry.
These values are used to determine property-tax levels and the
centre-right parties are concerned the reform might lead to tax
hikes through the back door, even though Draghi has pledged that
no one will have to pay more because of it.
"It is one thing to uncover tax evasion, It is another to apply
market values to the (land-registry) estimates, which would
trigger increases," Salvini said. (ANSA).
