Bright young sparks to gather for symposium in Umbria

(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 22 - Bright young sparks from all over the world will gather in Umbria in September to talk about science, humanism and technology, with a view to the future. The occasion is the first edition of the 'Young Sparks Symposium' organised by the University of Perugia, Italian fashion designer Brunello Cucinelli and the "Indire Erasmus+" agency from 4 to 7 September, with events taking place in Solomeo, Perugia, Norcia and Assisi.
    More than 200 students from universities all over the world will interact with international personalities in the fields of science and technology, in a "healthy relationship" with humanism, culture and politics. The symposium "will be an extraordinary celebration of humanism" says Perugia University Rector Maurizio Oliviero. "The stories of those who will speak remind us that each of us has the potential to make a difference," he continues. "By listening to their voices, we will learn how to overcome the challenges that lie ahead and build a better future for everyone," concludes Oliviero.
    "The 'Young Sparks Symposium' is intended to be a great celebration of humanism in Solomeo, for the whole of Umbria and for our beautiful Italy," says Cucinelli. The idea, he explains, is "to celebrate, together with the future generations, the harmony of human beings with creation, towards which it now seems necessary to draw up a genuine social contract relative to everything animate and inanimate". "I am increasingly convinced that humanity cannot be governed by science alone and that, on the contrary we must return to balancing science and spirit, finding the right balance between technology and humanism. I like to think that each of the young students we will host can take home with them a precious gift: the desire to listen, to dialogue, to respond," says Cucinelli.
