Florence - A man suspected of sexually torturing and murdering a 26-year-old Romanian prostitute and leaving her body in a Crucifixion-like pose in Florence Monday was arrested Thursday night. The 55-year-old plumber confessed to being the so-called Crucifixion killer, police said.
Florence police chief Raffaele Micillo said Thursday the murderer suspected of at least four slayings in and near the Tuscan city spanning 10 years was "a beast".
"I'm sorry to offend animals with this comparison but this person is a beast," Micillo told reporters.
The 26-year-old Romanian, Andrea Cristina Zamfir, found strapped to an iron bar in a Christ-like pose, was an "occasional" sex worker, friends said Friday.
