(ANSA) - Jesi, January 20 - A car fire overnight Tuesday
caused concern for its proximity to the Jesi Art Gallery in
Palazzo Pianetti, blackening the building's facade and
shattering a window without harming any of the paintings within,
ANSA sources said Wednesday.
The fire was caused by a short circuit in a Mini Minor
parked near the gallery.
The fire destroyed a parked car and caused a gas leak, but
firefighters were able to prevent any further explosions or
damage.
The gallery in the central Marche town houses important
paintings by Lorenzo Lotto.
