(ANSA) - PALERMO, JUL 1 - Italian police on Wednesday
arrested 46 people in an operation against Sicily's Cosa Nostra
mafia in Sicily and Germany.
Those arrested are accused of mafia association, drug
trafficking and racketeering, extortion, corruption aggravated
by mafia conspiracy, and weapons possession.
Police said they had smashed the Bevilacqua clan, operating in
and around Enna, Catania, Palermo and Wolfsburg.
Boss Giuseppe Emilio Bevilacqua was caught in Germany with the
help of local police and Germany's anti-mafia bureau.
The clan also committed murders over the years, police said.
