(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 10 - The number of people in employment in Italy returned over the 23-million threshold in November for the first time since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, ISTAT said on Monday.
The national statistics agency said a 64,000 rise in the number of people in work with respect to October took the total up to 23.
That is the highest level since 23.174 million people were in employment in Italy in February 2020.
ISTAT said the number of people in work was up by 494,000 with respect to November 2020, taking the employment rate up to 58.9%.
The agency said Italy's unemployment rate was 9.2% in November, a drop of 0.2 of a percentage point on October and a fall of 0.4 of a point compared to the same month in 2020.
It said 2.338 million people were looking for work, down by 43,000 on October and by 53,000 on November 2020. (ANSA).
