(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 10 - A Bologna minors court on Thursday
stripped of their parenting rights a couple near Modena who had
refused vaccinated blood donors for the heart surgery of their
young son.
The local social services in the town near Modena where the
family lives were appointed legal guardians of the child.
For religious reasons, the parents had demanded that the blood
used in the surgery should only come from unvaccinated donors.
The boy is at Bologna's Sant'Orsola Hospital.
On Tuesday the hospital won an appeal against the parents'
unvaccinated blood demand.
A Modena child guardian judge ruled that there were guarantees
of absolute safety in using blood from vaccinated donors,
turning down the parents' appeal. (ANSA).
