(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 1 - An aunt who had initially given
herself up in an acid attack on her two nieces in Naples Sunday
night has now gone missing, judicial sources aid Wednesday.
The 22-year-old woman went to police and submitted a version of
events at odds with what police think happened, the sources
said.
The two sisters aged 17 and 24 were attacked with acid in Naples
on Sunday night, sources said Monday.
The pair told police they were strolling in Corso Amedeo
di Savoia in the city centre when six other girls and young
women threw acid at them for no reason and made off on scooters.
The sisters were taken to hospital with burns on their arms and
faces.
Police are investigating on possible charges of "causing
permanent disfigurement". (ANSA).
