(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 14 - A Marche man who had been paralysed
from the head down for 18 years died Monday night after opting
to end his life with deep sedation.
Fabio Ridolfi, 46, from Fermignano (Pesaro Urbino), died
"without suffering", his family said via the right-to-die
Coscioni Association.
Ridolfi had been refused access to assisted suicide despite a
Constitutional Court ruling in favour of it last year.
But the Marche regional ethics panel gave him the green light
for ending his life by deep sedation.
One of Ridolfi's last wishes had been to meet one of his beloved
AS Roma soccer stars.
He was unable to fulfill it but Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini
sent him a "big salute, a hug and a kiss" in a video message.
