(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 18 - Bits of brick fell off St Mark's
belltower in a storm that ripped through Venice Thursday.
Tourists were evacuated and the area cordoned off.
Pieces of red brick are visible at the base of the iconic
monument.
Gales swept away umbrellas in Sta Marks' Square and a newspaper
kiosk was also knocked over near the city gardens.
Two people including a boy were slightly hurt, suffering
bruising, one at St Mark's and the other at the Lido. (ANSA).
