(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 31 - The house where great 19th century
opera composer Giuseppe Verdi lived for 50 years will not be
shut due to disrepair, Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano said
Monday.
he said "Villa Verdi and its previous goods have a fundamental
importance for the memory and identity of the Italians and so
they must be safeguarded and open to the public".
The house-museum at Piacenza was set to be closed and sold,
according to reports last week. (ANSA).
