(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 3 - A 24-year-old man from Forlì killed
himself a year ago after discovering his virtual girlfriend was
a man, his family said Thursday in asking for justice in the
'cat-fishing' case.
The family has asked satirical TV show Le Iene for help in
bringing to justice the 64-year-old man from a nearby town who
for a year posed as Irene, a beautiful 20-year-old who said she
had fallen in love with the victim, Daniele.
The pair exchanged over 8,000 messages in a year, even talking
about getting married and having kids, the family told Le Iene,
which has promised to keep prosecutors on the case.
Daniele's relatives are fighting a prosecutor's request to
shelve the case. (ANSA).
