(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 18 - A second doctor, oncologist Filippo
Zerilli, has been put under investigation after treating Mafia
boss Matteo Messina Denaro while he was a fugitive, sources said
on Wednesday.
Zerilli did the DNA test on Messina Denaro, who has cancer,
necessary for his chemotherapy, the sources said.
The 60-year-old mobster booked his medical appointments with the
ID card of Andrea Bonafede, a surveyor who lend Messina Denaro
his identity and is under investigation for allegedly helping
him too.
The other doctor being probed is 70-year-old Alfonso Tumbarello,
who was for years the GP at Campobello di Mazara, near Messina
Denaro's home town of Castelvetrano, until he retired last
month.
The flat that Messina Denaro was using as his hideout until his
arrest at a Palermo clinic on Monday is in Campobello di Mazara.
