(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 20 - Mt Vesuvius was dusted by its first
snowfall of the year as a cold snap bit Italy on Friday.
Snow fell in much of Italy on Friday morning, brought by an
Arctic weather front, and schools were closed on Sardinia.
The volcano overlooking Naples was sprinkled with snow from its
upper slopes to summit.
The snow was very welcome in the central Apennines where the
tourist industry has been threatened by an absence of the white
stuff.
The wintry weather, which follows a balmy spells over the
holidays, is set to last until the end of the month, weathermen
