(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 8 - Femicide attacks in Italy in 2022 rose to 125 from 119 the previous year, according to a report published on Wednesday by the central directorate of crime police to coincide with International Women's Day.
Of the total, 103 women were killed by a partner or ex-partner or other family member.
Of the victims, 95% were 18 or over and 78% were Italian, the report said.
Stalking and abuse against women instead fell in 2022 over the previous year, while reported incidents of sexual violence increased.
The report came the day after a 35-year-old Ukrainian woman was found dead in her home in Rosarno in the southern Calabria region. The body reportedly also showed signs of previous violence.
Her partner, also from Ukraine, has been arrested by police on suspicion of murder. (ANSA).
