(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 24 - Italy lost to England 1-2 in its
first UEFA Euro 2024 qualifier at the Diego Armando Maradona
stadium in Naples on Thursday night.
Italy coach Roberto Mancini said afterwards it had been "a
difficult match".
"It was a difficult match, then we lost goals on two corner
kicks, but we dominated in the second half," Mancini told public
service broadcaster Rai.
"We deserved a draw, it would have been fair. We are sad, but
there is a long road ahead."
Italy's next Group C qualifier is against Malta on Sunday.
