(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 27 - Italian police on Monday arrested two
Nigerian women in connection with the death of a 20 days-old
Nigerian boy who bled out after a home ritual circumcision near
Rome last Friday, police said.
The two women are charged with aggravated manslaughter and
illegal exercise of a profession.
The child's mother is also being investigated on suspicion of
conspiracy to commit manslaughter.
The boy's parents rushed him to hospital but he arrived there
dead.
Some 5,000 such circumcisions are performed in Italy every year,
and 35% of them clandestinely, according to the latest figures.
