(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 23 - A 46-year-old religious education
teacher was arrested in Tivoli near Rome Tuesday on suspicion of
sexually abusing four boys aged between 10 and 15 at the time of
the alleged crimes, prosecutors said.
The alleged sexual violence allegedly went on for years,
according to a note by the Tivoli Public Prosecutor, Francesco
Menditto.
The teacher, who has not so far been named and who has been
placed under house arrest, allegedly bought off his victims with
gifts.
"He was a man impossible to hate, a second father, a person
known and well liked by all, capable of buying the silence of
his victims with expensive gifts, but also with listening, with
understanding, with words suitable for consoling them from the
anguish of adolescence", said the Tivoli magistrate in the
arrest warrant. (ANSA).
