(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 10 - A Palermo judge on Monday issued
arrest warrants against 18 alleged members of the influential
Resuttana mafia clan.
The suspects are under investigation for alleged mafia
association, extortion, drug trafficking, illegal possession of
weapons, and violation of the obligation of special
surveillance, among other crimes.
Sixteen people have been placed under pre-trial detention and
two people under house arrest.
The investigation has dismantled one of the richest clans in the
Sicilian regional capital.
"They have a city in their hands," reportedly said one suspected
mafioso while being wire-tapped, referring to the clan's top
management.
