(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 18 - Italy's heatwave has sent electricity
consumption soaring as people turn on fans and ramp up the air
conditioning to cope with the extraordinarily high temperatures,
according to data from grid operator Terna.
It said consumption reached 56.67 GW on Monday, the highest
level so far this year.
Terna has said it is forecast to reach a peak of 58.72 GW on
Tuesday, not far from the all-time record of 60.5 GW reached in
July 2015. (ANSA).
