(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 19 - The presidential pardon granted to
Egyptian researcher and Bologna university alumnus Patrick Zaki
is the result of a "long and constant negotiation" between the
Italian and Egyptian governments, sources said on Wednesday.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Deputy Premier and
Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, who has undertaken several
missions to Egypt in recent months, and the Italian External
Intelligence and Security Agency (Aise) have all been involved.
