(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 25 - Gales that have reaped death and
destruction across Lombardy and wildfires sweeping Sicily have
caused a "dramatic moment" in Italian history and authorities
must try to "save what can be saved", Civil Protection Minister
Nello Musumeci said Tuesday.
"Right now we have to try to salvage what can be saved.
It is one of the most difficult days from a climatic point of
view in recent years," he told SkyTg24.
"In Sicily, the sirocco does not allow aircraft to get into the
air to put out fires. Everything that could be done with the
fire brigade, the forestry corps, the civil protection, has been
done. The force of nature tends to overwhelm that of man".
