(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 14 - A young woman who is believed to have
been stabbed to death by her former partner in the Trentino town
of Silandro at the weekend had previously reported him for
violence, a local councillor told ANSA on Monday.
Celine Frei Matzhol, 20, from Corces in Val Venosta, allegedly
reported Omer Cim, 28, for so-called 'red code' offences under a
law aimed at tackling domestic and gender-based violence in
Italy in June.
"We all knew that Celine was being maltreated by her boyfriend.
He was violent, he often raised his hands (against her), and if
people talked, it must be true," said Silandro Councillor Dunja
Tassiello.
"I even collected some information," she added.
Cim, of Turkish origin, was stopped and arrested by police on
Sunday afternoon as he was trying to cross the border into
Austria, not longer after Matzhol had been found dead in his
apartment.
She had reportedly been stabbed several times in different parts
of her body. (ANSA).
