(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 14 - A group of Muslim women were
prevented from bathing in their clothes at a Trieste beach on
Sunday.
The women had entered the women-only section of the Lido Pedicin
beach, Europe's only segregated beach, with a wall separating
men from women and children.
But Italian women bathers protested with one saying "they've
been around the city all day in those clothes and it's not
hygienic, I'm a clean person".
The Muslims asked for clarification from the beach management
but were told that there was no regulation on the issue.
They are expected to try again at another beach in the
northeastern city soon. (ANSA).
