Same-sex Nativity Scene pasted on 'pro-family' group's HQ

Street artist Laika also shows Joseph making patriarchy's coffin

(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 24 - A work by Italian street artist and activist Laika featuring a same-sex-parent Nativity Scene with two Virgin Marys appeared on Sunday on the Rome headquarters of the conservative Pro-Vita & Famiglia (Pro-Life and Family) association.
The work, which has Jesus wrapped in a rainbow-flag blanket, was on a poster than was pasted into the shutters of the offices of the association, which campaigns against abortion and same-sex parents.
Laika also put up a poster showing Saint Joseph working as a carpenter on the 'coffin of the patriarchy'.
The street artist's provocative act comes after Pro-Vita & Famiglia joined a wave of outrage from conservative quarters at a Nativity Scene in a church in the southern town of Capocastello di Mercogliano that also has Jesus with two mothers.
The association said this was dangerous and blasphemous and launched a petition calling on the bishop of Avellino to take action. (ANSA).
