Farmers' protests continue in several parts of Italy

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 29 - Farmers took to the streets again in several parts of Italy on Monday to protest against allegedly detrimental European agricultural policies.
    The protests come on the back of high-profile demonstrations in other parts of Europe such as Germany, Belgium and France, where farmers on tractors have been blocking roads and motorways and causing widespread disruption in protest over low wages, price pressures, green regulation and free-trade policies, among other things.
    In Italy, protests were reported near the A1 motorway exit at Orte, north of Rome, where farmers on tractors and other agricultural machinery gathered at a roundabout; and in Udine in the northern region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, where around 70 farmers on tractors gathered for a spontaneous protest and then moved off in procession.
    Farmers in the island region of Sardinia have organised two separate protests on Tuesday in Cagliari and on February 12 in Cagliari, Nuoro, Iglesias, Oristano and Aassari. (ANSA).
