(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 13 - A prisoner on Tuesday obtained a
ten-month sentence reduction, 312 days to be precise, by winning
an appeal in which he complained that he had suffered detention
conditions in the Florence-Sollicciano prison, where he had been
imprisoned for eight years, "such as to constitute inhuman and
degrading treatment" due to the poor conditions of the prison.
The Florence probation office upheld his appeal, recognising the
grounds for his his case under Article 3 of the European
Convention on Human Rights.
