(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 17 - The building contractor implicated in
Friday's structural collapse at a supermarket building site in
Florence that left five workers dead and three more injured said
on Saturday it was "overwhelmed with shock and grief".
"It is a terrible tragedy, we are overwhelmed with shock and
grief," said the managers of Attività Edilizie Pavesi (AEP) in a
statement sent to ANSA.
"This is a time of silence and grief," the statement continued.
"We are at the complete disposal of the authorities to ensure
all the conditions are in place to shed light on this dramatic
accident," the statement concluded.
On Saturday rescue workers recovered the bodies of two workmen
missing after the collapse, which reportedly occurred after a
beam on the fourth floor gave in.
Three people were confirmed dead on Friday. (ANSA).
