(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 12 - The Italian Navy's Duilio destroyer
has shot down two air drones as part of its involvement in the
EU Aspides mission to protect shipping in the Red Sea from
attacks by Yemeni-based Houthi rebels, the defence ministry said
on Tuesday.
The ministry said the drones were taken out "in implementation
of the principle of self-defence".
The same ship took out another drone in the Red Sea 10 days ago
before it was formally engaged in the Aspides mission. (ANSA).
