(ANSA) - ROME, MAR 16 - An 85-year-old woman who had just
been discharged from a Sicilian hospital died after falling off
her stretcher in the ambulance taking her home Saturday.
She was discharged from the Termini Imerese hospital outside
Palermo after being treated and then recovering.
For the transport home, her relatives called in a private
company, but during the transfer into the ambulance the
stretcher tipped over, the 85-year-old woman fell and hit her
head.
She was immediately taken back to the emergency room, admitted
but died as a result of the bleeding in her head. The family
filed a complaint with the public prosecutor's office of Termini
Imerese, they are assisted by lawyer Francesco Paolo Sanfilippo.
The duty public prosecutor Concetta Federico has already ordered
the seizure of the body in view of the autopsy. (ANSA).
