(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 14 - The number of bank robberies staged
in Italy fell 35% in 2023, from 124 to 80, according to data
out Tuesday from the Ossif observatory, which is part of the
Italian banking association (ABI).
"The positive trend that has characterised the phenomenon in
recent years is also the result of the joint work of banks and
law enforcement agencies," Ossif said.
Between 2013 and 2023, bank-branch robberies decreased by 93.6%,
from 1,246 in 2013 to 80 in 2023.
Italian banks 'invest around EUR 500 million each year to make
their branches even more protected and secure,' the report
emphasised. (ANSA).
