(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 12 - The mother of Saman Abbas, an
18-year-old Italian-Pakistani woman killed by her family at
Novellara near Reggio Emilia on the night between 30 April and 1
May 2021, on Wednesday agreed to her extradition from Pakistan
to Italy after her arrest in Pakistan at the end of May, sources
said on Wednesday.
The woman, Nazia Shaheen, who is believed to have strangled her
daughter after a row over her wanting to leave home, consented
to her extradition and did not apply for bai,.
Saman's uncle, Danish Hasnain, was sentenced to 14 years.
It was initially reported that the family killed Saman for
refusing an arranged marriage but a court said it was because
she wanted to go and live with her boyfriend in a Western-style
arrangement. (ANSA).
