(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 20 - The Italian Coast Guard's Dattilo
ship on Thursday recovered nine more bodies in the Ionian Sea
after Monday's shipwreck about a hundred kilometres off the
Calabrian coast of a sailing boat that had set sail eight days
earlier from Turkey and which left some 60 people missing,
including 26 children, according to the 11 survivors.
Eight other bodies had been recovered over the last few days.
It was the second worst recent migrant disaster in Italy after
the February 2023 shipwreck at Cutro in Calabria in which at
least 94 migrants including 35 children died. (ANSA).
