(ANSA) - ROME, JUN 20 - Satnam Singh, a 31-year-old Indian farm hand who was dumped without medical assistance after a machine severed his hand and later died in hospital, committed a "blunder" in approaching the farm machinery, the owner of the firm employing him told Rai state broadcaster after his death on Wednesday.
"I had warned the worker not to approach the vehicle, but he did his own thing. It was sheer carelessness, unfortunately", said Renzo Lovato, speaking to TG1 first channel news.
Renzo Lovato is the father of Antonello, Satnam's direct employer and gangmastering and manslaughter suspect.
"There is sorrow because a lad died at work and it should never happen. It has cost everyone dearly," said Lovato.
